Peels Q&A

What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels are an exfoliation treatment that removes the outermost layers of your skin to reveal a layer of fresh healthy cells. They serve the same essential purpose as microdermabrasion, HydraFacials, and dermaplaning, but without the same manual disruption of your skin.

There are a number of different chemical peels to choose from, each with a distinct set of benefits. Dr. Casey or a member of her team guides you through the available options and ensure you have all the details needed to make an informed decision about your care.

What type of chemical peels are available?

Dr. Casey puts significant time and effort into selecting the products used at Northshore Skincare. Not all chemical peels are equal in terms of quality and formulation standards, and you deserve an experience that yields results without compromising your health.

Peels from VI Aesthetics™ offer superb results in formulations you can trust. There are several peels to choose from, including their flagship VI Peel®. This treatment softens fine lines and wrinkles and creates a smooth feel with even tone, and brightens your complexion.

Other VI peels offer a more in-depth experience and go further into the layers of your skin to erase more advanced signs of aging and hyperpigmentation.

Another great option is the Obagi® Blue Peel RADIANCE®. This salicylic acid peel is performed in a series of sessions to gently remove the outermost layers of skin one layer at a time. This peel corrects blemishes, rough skin, and hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage.

What is it like to get a chemical peel?

The first step in a chemical peel is a gentle skin cleansing. Next, your practitioner applies the peel solution to your skin. After a period of time the peel is removed, your skin is cleansed once again, and your skin is protected with a layer of sunscreen if needed.

In the days following your chemical peel, the outer layers of your skin begin to flake or peel away. This process may take longer for deeper, more intense peels. Once the peeling is complete, you begin to enjoy your refreshed and renewed complexion.
