Injectables Q&A

What is Botox®?

Botox is the first FDA-approved medication to temporarily improve the appearance of forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. It’s also the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure in the world.

The power of Botox lies in the formulation. Injections deliver a carefully controlled and minute volume of Clostridium botulinum, a neurotoxin that prevents your muscles from moving through their full range of motion.

Dr. Casey injects Botox to target the muscles that are pulling your skin into wrinkles, folds, and lines. Once the injections take effect, you look more youthful and well-rested but still have natural facial expressions and movement.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injections of a gel-like solution that replace lost facial volume or enhance facial contouring. Dr. Casey uses fillers from the JuvedermⓇ family of products, an industry leader in dermal fillers.

These injections can restore volume in the following areas:

  • Midface or cheeks
  • Beneath the eyes
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Recessed scars

There are even dermal fillers that can plump your lips and create a more defined lip line. Depending on the type of filler used and how your body responds to treatment, your results can last from 12-24 months

What is Kybella®?

Kybella is an injectable treatment that literally melts away fat in the area beneath your chin. Kybella is formulated from synthetic deoxycholic acid. This substance is found naturally in your body, where it helps to break down and absorb dietary fat.

When injected into the area beneath your chin, deoxycholic acid works the same way, permanently destroying a portion of targeted fat cells. Your body then processes and eliminates the resulting cellular debris through your lymphatic system.

The process involves multiple shallow injections in the tissues beneath your chin, but a numbing cream reduces sensations and the entire process takes less than 30 minutes. Depending on the volume of fullness in the treatment area you may need more than one Kybella treatment.

Kybella yields permanent results, but it’s important to note that future weight gain can alter those results, so be sure you’ve achieved and can maintain a healthy weight prior to treatment.
